A gentle oilation of the body using specifically formulated
100% natural oils. Imported from India and made in strict
accordance with classic formulas, these herbalised massage
oils contain a blend of carefully chosen herbs known for
their ability to balance your physiology, vikruti and calm
the mind. These oils are laced with herbs to remedy specific
body and mind concerns. Depending on your prakruti and your
symptoms, Hazel will choose an oil best suited to you. Ayurveda
recommends that a hot bath or herbal fomentation be taken
after abhyanga.
Deepest Effects:
In order to keep one's health and, awareness and longevity,
massage is very essential. With massage the physical appearance
of the body is enhanced to a great extent. Massage also aids
in the healing of many illnesses. Abhyanga nourishes the
skin, and gradually the tissues beneath. With habitual use
of this technique, each of the dhatus is replenished. Dhatus
are the 7 levels of bodily tissue that create the structure
and make the functioning of bodily systems possible. They
are:
1. Rasa Dhatu: plasma, white blood cells and immune system
2. Rakta Dhatu: red blood cells
3. Mamsa Dhatu: muscle
4. Meda Dhatu: fat tissue
5. Asthi: bone and cartilage
6. Majja: nervous system and bone marrow
7. Shakra: male reproductive tract Or Artava: female reproductive
tract
The Ayurvedic texts recommend that you give yourself an
abhyanga treatment on a daily basis before bathing. It is
nourishing, pacifies Vata and Kapha, relieves fatigue, provides
stamina, pleasure and perfect sleep, enhances the complexion
and the luster of the skin, promotes longevity and nourishes
all parts of the body. Since few of us have the time for
this, I would recommend a weekly professional abhyanga or
ayurvedic full body massage for similar effects. |

With all the benefits of the abhyanga, this is a deeper
muscular massage. The therapist works more specifically on
areas relaxing the muscles on a deeper level. Pain management
oil infused with vata reducing herbs and camphor may be used
if pain is present otherwise an oil specific to your dosha
will be chosen.
Benefits include:
- Improving circulation in the body. Commonly a part of
the body that has become stiff or flabby has poor circulation
and little feeling. Ayurvedic oil massage to these areas
can help re-establish proper circulation and nervous system
activity.
- Providing a purifying and cleansing influence to the physiology.
When we rub and press the body we help break up the accumulated
deposits of toxins and impurities that have localized in
the tissues. The motion also creates heat and friction and
increases the flow of fluids through the blood and lymph
vessels. This helps to cleanse and open these important channels
of circulation and elimination.
- Maintaining the suppleness and youthfulness of the skin.
When warm oil is applied to the body, some of it is absorbed
by the skin. Even after showering there remains a softness
and suppleness to the skin. Oil application helps prevent
the skin from becoming dry and helps to maintain its youthfulness.
- Creating a stabilizing and balancing effect on Vata. Classic
symptoms of Vata imbalance are fatigue and lack of mental
clarity. When the entire body surface area has absorbed Ayurvedic
oil and herbs these symptoms are reduced and there is greater
balance, strength and stability during the day.
- Increasing the secretion of hormones from the skin. These
hormones, including growth hormone and endorphins help confer
strength and immunity on the system.

The nose is the gateway to the brain and to consciousness.
Prana, or life energy, enters the body through breath taken
in through the nose. Nasal administration of herbal oils
helps to correct the disorders of prana affecting the higher
cerebral, sensory and motor functions.
Nasya is indicated for dryness of the nose, sinus congestion,
hoarseness, migraine headache, certain eye and ear problems
and repeated head colds.
Allow 1 hour for this treatment. A head and face massage
must first be administered followed by a hot towel treatment.
Only then may the oil be introduced to the nasal passages.
Following this, the smoke from a herbal cone is inhaled,
in order to clear the nose of excess oiliness.
€65 per 1 hour session. A course of a minimum of 7
sessions is recommended. The full course of 7 sessions costs €350.

So many of us use various face creams (some of them extremely
expensive) to enhance beauty and longevity without realizing
that massage can do wonders for the face and in a very natural
way. Commencing with a gentle face and neck massage, circulation
is increased (skin is nourished and soothed) preparing you
for the full harmonious effect of this facial. Using ayurvedic
facial massage creams a face massage can restore firmness
and youth by rejuvenating the elasticity in the muscles.
A hot towel treatment opens the pores, allowing the release
of toxins and a deeper cleanse. The 100% natural face packs
used, are formulated according to the ancient ways of Ayurveda
to enhance the natural glow of the skin and to reduce the
effect of wrinkles.
Treatments for acne prone skin are also available. During
the face massage, the pulp of selected fruits is used for
its anti-bacterial effect. The hot towel treatment opens
the pores to allow the specially formulated anti-acne face
pack work to its full effect.

Pain Management Treatments

Pain is due to an imbalance in the vata dosha. By using warm
oil treatments we can reduce the effects of vata on the
area and thus reduce the pain.

Svedanam therapy is designed to induce sweating which occurs
through the skin by way of the hair follicles, and through
the fat tissues of the body. As a result the fiery content
of the body increases facilitating in the expulsion of toxins
from the system. It helps relieve stiffness, heaviness and
coldness. Vata reducing herbs are boiled and the steam is
passed over the whole body or a localized area (depending
on the treatment) for 15-20 minutes.
Unfortunately the svedanam therapies cannot be carried out
on those with diabetes or those suffering from fever.

During the massage the therapist will use cushions to ensure that your body is supported and you are completely comfortable. The massage will be soothing and calming. The therapist will go deep in areas such as the shoulders where required. We don’t use Ayurvedic oils for pregnancy massage for the same reasons it is good to avoid certain spices in your diet while pregnant, instead we use a smooth base oil.
Regular massage during the second and third trimester of pregnancy gives similar benefits to those of our Ayurvedic full body massage and are manyfold.
